It’s been 4 years since the last edition and the latest version sees the addition of 12 extra pages and almost 200 new products for both 4 and 6 cylinder Austin-Healey models, road, race and rally.
During this time, continued development and investment in the latest technology has enabled Denis Welch Motorsport to add some innovative new high-performance products to the range. These new products include:
Centre Change Gearbox Cases
This is the final component to enable the building of brand new, complete gearboxes which have been unobtainable for many years and original parts have become unserviceable due to wear.
This top quality casting is produced from Denis Welch Motorsport’s own pattern equipment in cast iron as per the original. It is then CNC machined using precision CAD drawings. These Healey gearbox cases are produced to exacting standards, with the benefit of the original drawings and supplied complete with the rear mainshaft bearing housing, available to suit the early or late layshaft.
Steering Idler Box
Fed up with the poor quality offerings already on the market, Denis Welch Motorsport design team have reproduced the complete Idler Box with the aid of original factory drawings. Designed using state of the art software, each completed unit is made from heat treated castings with correct interferences for the bushes to fit perfectly. The Steering Idler Lid is hardened as was original. For customers this is the answer they have been looking for, bringing a new level of precision and quality to Performance Healey enthusiasts on the road or in competition.
Dual Circuit, Balance Bar Pedal Boxes and Pedals
Denis Welch Motorsport have been offering pedal boxes on an exchange basis for a number of years but have now designed and manufactured new versions available for outright sale, no exchange required. Designed especially for the dedicated race or rally driver who requires a professional dual circuit system that is adjustable. A cable can also be fitted to adjust the balance from the driver’s seat. These are available for both RHD and LHD versions. Also available are reproduction brake pedals, made in-house using precision TIG welding. Assembled using new jigs ensuring an accurate fit and finished in a high quality stove enamelled black paint.
Classic Sport Ignition
The search for a high quality, programmable distributor has led Denis Welch Motorsport to Classic Sport Ignition Systems, a leading designer and manufacturer of programmable distributors for classic road and competition use. The CSI system utilises an original distributor body which preserves the period look but the points, condenser and mechanical advance mechanisms have all been replaced by modern electronic components allowing up to 16 selectable pre-programmed advance curves to choose from.
Denis Welch Motorsport have developed their own unique advance curves after extensive testing. This ensures the car has the correct ignition timing no matter how many revs the engine is running, optimising combustion, gaining power, torque and improving drivability.
Racing and high performance enthusiasts demand only the very best parts. The availability and suitability of original parts, which are hard to obtain, can compromise performance and reliability when it matters. Denis Welch Motorsport have been at the forefront of product development for nearly 40 years and continually develop new parts which are ‘Better than Original’. By digitising all Healey parts it is possible to pre-assemble parts and theoretically test them before prototyping and manufacturing. This is in sharp contrast to typical market approach of adopting a “copying the last one made” philosophy, which always leads to poor quality and errors in the long run.
